STORM IN THE NIGHT

Storm in the Night

The storm raged through the night.

Flashes

Whistles, moans,

The rumble of wagons, the roar of cauldrons, the clatter of metal, the clinking of swords,

Lightning,

Thunder,

Cracking,

Rumbling,

Pounding

Like an attack by a fierce invader.

Then everything went quiet.

When I step out at dawn,

It is empty and deserted.

And only on the road,

Traces of repulsed and routed fugitives,

Puddles gleam like shields with jagged edges.
